Dawn Ellen (Hanneman) Stuvland, 47, lived a life filled with laughter, hard work, deep love, and unforgettable joy. She was the kind of person who made life brighter simply by being in it.
Dawn was born on August 19, 1978, to Carol “Babe” and Helen (Trantham) Hanneman in Breckenridge, MN. She grew up in Barnesville where she attended school, graduating from Barnesville High School in 1997. She went on to attend Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she obtained her degree, and worked in the Admissions Office, welcoming perspective students and helping them feel at home—something she did naturally in all areas of her life.
Dawn met Corey Stuvland, and together they built a life rooted in love and family. Their daughter, Maddy, was born on September 29, 2003. Dawn and Corey were then married on September 16, 2006. Their family grew again with the addition of their youngest daughter, Mya, on April 1, 2009, completing the family Dawn treasured more than anything.
A tireless worker and dedicated leader, Dawn built an impressive career marked by commitment and integrity. She worked at PortiCo in Moorhead, Microsoft, and Click Dimensions from 2015 to 2020. In 2020, she stepped into a role she was deeply proud of, serving as Executive Director of the Barnesville Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Dawn also served her community as a member of the City Council beginning in 2015, standing firmly for what she believed in and always working to make her community better.
Dawn loved fiercely—especially her beloved husband and two daughters, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was endlessly proud of Corey and the life they built together, and she admired the strength, dedication, and hard work he showed every day. She was equally proud of Maddy and Mya, cheering them on in everything they pursued and taking great pride in the people they were becoming. Dawn believed deeply in showing up for the people you love, and she did so with her whole heart.
She was also a devoted lover of animals, with an especially big heart for dogs. She rescued and loved many animals throughout her life, and her dogs were her constant companions, and her comfort.
She knew how to have fun. Dawn laughed often, loved hard, worked harder than most, and never missed a chance to enjoy life—whether that meant fishing, watching her favorite reality TV shows, rummage saleing, or cheering on her family in everything they did. She was endlessly supportive, proud beyond measure, and always ready to celebrate the accomplishments and happiness of those she loved.
Though Dawn’s life was far too short, the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the lives she touched will live on forever. Her 47 years were full.
Dawn is survived by her husband Corey Stuvland of Barnesville; two children, Maddy Stuvland and Mya Stuvland of Barnesville; siblings: Daniel Hanneman, of Wolverton, MN, Darcy Hanneman of Barnesville, and Darwin (Julie) Hanneman of Blue Ridge, TX; nieces and nephews: Danielle (DJ) Hawkinson, Alex Hanneman, Morgan (Jared) Altepeter, Krista Hanneman, Jianna Hanneman, and Kolby Hanneman, Cecelia and Haakon Dalsing; great nieces and nephews Jurgen, Holloway, Briar, and Wrenley; mother in law, Linda Stuvland, brother in law: Brian (Sara Pulver) Stuvland, and sister in law Mary (Ben Dalsing) Stuvland; and her four-legged companions Finn, Goose, and Pixy.
