Daniel Johnson

April 2, 1953 — May 12, 2020

Daniel Keith Johnson, 67, Glyndon, MN, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family at home on May 12, 2020.

Dan was born April 2, 1953, to Keith and Ardis (Hansen) Johnson. He grew up near Glyndon and attended Glyndon Elementary and Glyndon High School, graduating in 1971. While in school, he was active in sports, band and choir. At an early age, Dan started farming with his family. Following high school, he enrolled at NDSU and continued to farm. On August 30, 1974, Dan married the love of his life, Carol Mjolsness. They made their home near Glyndon and raised their three children. During the winter months, Dan worked several jobs to keep busy. His most important one of all was being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed the special time he spent with them and loved traveling with his family and friends. He was proud to watch his grandchildren participate in sporting events, concerts, and plays. During the summer, he enjoyed being out on the golf course, going to the lake and driving the countryside checking on his fields.

Dan was an active member of Maranatha Free Lutheran Church. He served on church boards, taught Sunday School, participated with the church choir and was instrumental in the TEC Program (Teens Encounter Christ). He was a man of faith and relied on the Lord every single day.

Dan's passion for farming was instilled in his children and he watched them develop a love for the land that he shared. Dan enjoyed the spring season, which brought a new and fresh start each and every year.
"Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit…" John 12:24

Dan will be remembered and forever missed by his wife of 45 years, Carol, along with two sons, Chad (Alyssa), Kyle (Sally) and one daughter, Sheila (Jake) Murack; his grandchildren whom he adored, Ethan, Preston, Bella, Logan, Ava, Bailey, Savannah, Dawsen and Anna. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Ardis Johnson and stepfather, Jim Haarstad; one brother, Jeff (Lynn) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Julie; along with several nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you to family, friends, and Maranatha Church family, especially Pastor Lloyd, for their unconditional love and support. Many prayers of thankfulness to the doctors and nurses at Roger Maris and Daniel's Hospice team.
