Cindy T. Slaughter, 54, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, in her home.

Cindy Teresa Fevig was born August 26, 1971, the daughter of Verne and Patricia (Olson) Fevig in Moorhead, MN. She was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1989. During her high school years Cindy was active singing in choir and sang with the Minnesota All State Choir. She then went on to further her education at Northwest Technical College where she received an associate’s degree in accounting.

Cindy began her accounting career working at Charles Bailey and then for Tharaldson Hospitality Management. On August 2, 2010, Cindy married the love of her life Michael Slaughter in Moorhead, MN, where they established their home. In 2012, Cindy became a partner in TaxLady LLC in Fargo. Michael passed away on November 11, 2025.

In her leisure time Cindy enjoyed Crossword Puzzles, Trivia, singing/Karaoke, and watching Jeopardy and SVU. Cindy was also an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed Stephen King novels, sometimes reading them twice. She also enjoyed traveling with family and close friends.

Cindy is survived by her sons, Christian Hernandez, Moorhead, Samuel Hernandez, Fargo, ND, and Michael Slaughter, Jr, Moorhead; grandson, Ameris; sisters, Tammy (Michael) Settera, Great Falls, MT, Wendy Fevig, Ulen, MN and Kristi Fevig, Moorhead; and numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; and sister, Lori Beck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the memorial Fund for Ameris that was setup on GoFundMe for Ameris, honoring Cindy's lifelong love of learning, curiosity, and her greatest joy...her grandson.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Cindy will begin at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Her Life at 2:00 PM, at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service.
