Cheryl R. Larson, 70, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead.
Cheryl Renee Larson was born March 26, 1955, the daughter of Clair and Deloris (Syverson) Hogenson in Moorhead. She was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1973. Following her high school graduation, Cheryl pursued a degree in Business Administration from Moorhead Technical College.
In 1973, Cheryl met Fred Larson, and the couple married on August 10, 1974, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They initially resided in Fargo before settling in Moorhead, where they raised their two daughters, Karen and Barbara. Cheryl initially began her professional career at Barrett’s Transportation in Fargo before joining the City of Fargo as part of the Auditor’s Department. She would eventually move to the Fargo Police Department, working as their records clerk until her retirement on February 20, 2020. In July of 2022, Cheryl received a diagnosis of Glioblastoma and was initially given the prognosis of eighteen months. However, through her bravery, strength, courage and unwavering spirit she shared an additional nineteen months with her family.
In her spare time Cheryl found joy in watching various live police department shows, crime shows, and the Hallmark Channel. She had a passion for dancing and a deep appreciation for country music. Most importantly, Cheryl cherished her family and dedicated much of her time to them, alongside her love for cats.
Cheryl will be remembered for her unconditional love and compassion for others. Consistently offering assistance however she could to anyone without judgement or hesitation. Her legacy of kindness will never be forgotten.
Cheryl will be dearly missed by her daughters, Karen (Kevin) Hanson and Barbara Larson, both of Moorhead; grandsons, Connor (Julia Schiltz) Hanson and Hunter Hanson; great-grandson, Orion Hanson; brother, Duane “Dewey” (Deanna) Hogenson; aunts, Marlys Syverson and Helen Gunderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Randy Hogenson.
A Visitation for Cheryl will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue Wednesday, September 3, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Cheryl will be laid to rest in Moorhead Memorial Garden, Moorhead.
