Charles “Charlie” A. Kohlmeyer, 74, of Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, in Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Charles Albert Kohlmeyer was born May 23, 1952, the son of Albert and Marian (Dahlman) Kohlmeyer in Grand Forks, ND. He moved with his family to Moorhead, MN, as a young child, where he was raised and graduated from high school in 1970. Charlie would go to further his education at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

On November 26, 1971, Charlie was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Joan Broderick, in Fargo. After a few moves, including Fargo and Cambridge, MN, they settled on a ranch in rural Pelican Rapids with the family dogs and horses. Charlie had numerous careers in engineering, including Case IH Inc., Johnston Culvert, and finally at John Deere Inc, where he retired in 2017. His soulmate, Joan, passed away on March 4, 2021. Charlie was always up for an adventure. He loved traveling, especially to Ireland, and spending time at their cabin in Park Rapids, MN.

Charlie enjoyed working around his ranch and lake cabin. He loved tinkering with his projects, which ranged from making signal cannons to moving boulders with his digger to working on his Jeep and everything in between. Charlie was a man of many talents, always finding something to fix, build, or create. His creativity, determination, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved German Shepherd, Lily; children, Jason (Logan), Joanna (Brad), and Andrew (Maija); very special friends, Chad (Jessi); grandchildren, Rebecca (Ben), Rachel, Thomas, Broderick, Anja, Elly, Wyatt, Reed, and Charliegh; and sister, Sarah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; and sister, Marty.

A Visitation for Charlie will begin at 9 AM, Friday, August 21, 2026, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN. He will be laid to rest in Graceville Consolidated Cemetery, Graceville, MN.
