Carl Mervin Renecker, age 59, of Barnesville, MN, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9, 2026, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN, with Rev. Ali Haugerud officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery in Barnesville.
Carl Mervin Renecker was born November 21, 1966, in Moorhead, MN, to Ross and Avis (Julsrud) Renecker. He grew up in Barnesville, where he attended school and spent much of his life.
Carl’s journey through life was not always an easy one. He faced struggles and challenges along the way, including periods of incarceration. Yet, through the ups and downs, Carl remained someone who could find humor in life and share a laugh with those around him. His story was one of perseverance, imperfect moments, friendships, and memories that will remain with those who knew him.
When he was home, Carl was never afraid of hard work. He made his living behind the wheel and with his hands, working as a taxi driver, riding the garbage truck, and helping area farmers as a farmhand. He was a familiar face to many in the Barnesville area and made connections with people wherever life took him.
Carl had a sense of humor that those close to him will remember. He enjoyed joking around, having a good time, and sharing a laugh with friends. He appreciated the friendships he made throughout his life, and those friendships meant a great deal to him.
Carl also found enjoyment in the simple things. He liked to go fishing whenever he had the opportunity and had a special soft spot for animals, especially cats. He enjoyed keeping fish and could appreciate the companionship and comfort that animals brought into his life.
Carl leaves behind his brother, David (Theresa) Renecker; nephews, Travis and Rusty Renecker; great-niece and great-nephew, Brynlee and Sawyer Renecker; and several friends, including his closest friend, Blaine Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Avis Renecker; sister, Mary Renecker; and brother, Ross Renecker Jr.
Carl’s life was uniquely his own, with both difficult chapters and good memories. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his humor, his willingness to work, his love of animals and fishing, and the friendships he formed along the way. May those who loved and cared about Carl find comfort in the memories they shared with him and the laughter that will remain a part of his memory.
