Beverly H. Coleman

Beverly H. Coleman, 95, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, in Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead.

Beverly Harris McDonald, daughter of Lindsay and Gladys (Harris) McDonald, was born in Great Falls, MT, on Sept. 25, 1923. The family moved to Moorhead, and Bev received her education and graduated from high school there. She later attended Moorhead State Teacher's College for two years.

During WW II, Bev moved to Washington, DC, where she worked in a secure department that broke Japanese codes. When the war ended, she returned to Moorhead, and was married to Albert B. Coleman, on Jan. 5, 1946. They made their home in Moorhead. As a young lady, she worked at Gamble-Skogmo and Richtman's Printing.

Bev was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an accomplished cook. She was an active member of the National Audubon Society and served on the board of directors of the Prairie Home and Riverside Cemetery Association.

Albert, her husband, died in February of 1995. In 2011, Bev moved to Eventide Senior Living Communities, where she had lived since.

Bev is survived by three children, Steven (Betty) Coleman, Edina, MN, Susan (Merle) Hanson, Detroit Lakes, MN, and James (Janet) Coleman of East Saint Paul, Manitoba; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; a son, John, who died in 1979; and her brother, Wallace McDonald.

Memorials preferred to Fargo-Moorhead Audubon Chapter, or Northern Lights Council-Boy Scouts of America.

Visitation for Beverly will be Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. She will be buried at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
