Arlene J. Vorgert

Arlene Vorgert, age 93, died on Thursday, December 27, 2018, under hospice care at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN.

Arlene Jeannette Gervais, daughter of Alphonse and Albertine (Richards) Gervais, was born on October 1, 1925, in Amenia, ND. The family relocated to Moorhead, MN, when Arlene was 5 years old. She attended school through grade 10 at which time she joined the work force to help out at home. She worked at a local laundromat, printing company, and at Cass Clay Creamery in Fargo, ND.

Arlene was united in marriage to Walter Vorgert on June 25, 1949, and they made their home in Moorhead where they raised their three children. She loved to bake and was blessed with a green thumb. Arlene often rescued distressed house plants from friends and family. The plants were grateful. Arlene especially enjoyed spending the holidays with her children and grandchildren.

Arlene was also a member of the Christian Mothers at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, where she assisted with weddings and funerals in her earlier years.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Craig) Voigt, New Rockford, ND, and Mary Ann (Curt) Smith, Lake Park; and daughter-in-law, Shirlene Vorgert, Staunton, VA; six grandchildren, Scott (Heidi) Vorgert, Timberville, VA, Mark Vorgert, Zions Crossroads, VA, Jeffrey (Angela) Voigt, Park Rapids, MN, Jacy (Cheryl Vaske) Voigt, Medford, OR, Regan (Paul) Teslaw and Erin Smith, both of Fargo; eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Brandon, and Jayden Vorgert, all from Virginia, Ean, Chloe, Aleah, and Claire Voigt, Park Rapids, MN, and Livia Teslaw, Fargo; sister, Doris Jacobs, Moorhead; sister-in-law, Donna Gervais; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter; brothers, Wallace and Donald Gervais, sister, Virginia Lindberg; and son, Donald Vorgert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 2, 2018, at 11 AM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
