Rose Gunstenson

Rose Mary Gunstenson, 77, Fargo, ND, passed away June 1, 2022, after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Rose was born October 3, 1944, in Ada, MN, to Fred and Grace (Donason) Dittmer of Gary, MN. She attended high school in Gary, MN, and graduated in 1962. On December 18, 1976, she was united in marriage to Thomas “Woody” Gunstenson and lived in Moorhead, MN, before moving to Fargo in 2019.
After high school she became a medical secretary while working at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead. In 1965 she moved to Van Nuys, CA, where she worked at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center for a couple of years and then to Grand Forks, ND. She was at the Grand Forks Clinic for a couple of years before returning to Moorhead.
Rose was employed at the Moorhead Area Chamber of Commerce for six years before joining the Nilles Law Firm, Fargo, in the Accounting Dept. where she retired after thirty-four years.
Rose enjoyed bowling, golfing, sky diving, curling, playing cards, getting together with friends and most importantly, spending time with her stepchildren and grandchildren she got when she married Woody. They enjoyed the winters in Arizona and going on trips whenever they could.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Mark Gunstenson; brother, David Dittmer and his wife Edna; brother, Robert Dittmer; and brother-in-law, Robert Platt.
Rose is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Thomas “Woody” Gunstenson; stepson, Jason Gunstenson; stepdaughter, Kristen (Shane) Haphey; daughter-in-law, Tonya Gunstenson; grandchildren, Tara (Scott), Megan, Sterling, and Kacy, sister, Wanda Platt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for Rose will Tuesday, June 7, 2022, from 5 – 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. A Life Celebration Service will be Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
The service for Rose will be livestreamed and can be viewed on her obituary page on Korsmo Funeral Service website. Memories and condolences may be shared there as well.
