Roald "Mike" Rasmus, 91, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, in Moorhead HealthCare Center, Moorhead.
Roald Wallace Rasmus, better known as Mike, son of Joe and Emma (Olson) Rasmus, was born in Fertile, MN, on October 25, 1914. He graduated from Fertile High School in 1932.
He spent two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Brimson, MN, followed by service in the US Army from 1942 to 1946. Mike was stationed at Camp Stoneman, Pittsburg, CA.
On December 29, 1942, Mike married Adelaine Ness of Maplebay, MN. They moved to Moorhead in 1947. Mike was co-owner of Arnberg & Rasmus Locker Plant, Moorhead until he retired in 1977.
Mike is survived by his wife, Addie, Moorhead; a son, Mitch (Georgia), Mound, MN; and daughter Kristi (Randy) Morsch, Moorhead, MN; five grandchildren: Joe (Colleen), Kari, Ike (Jill), Pete, Eda, and two great-grandchildren: Zaida and Cooper; two sisters, Ruth Harvey, Concord, CA and Ida Makela, Lenexa, KS; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Ray.
A memorial service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at 2 PM. Inurnment will take place in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
