Phil Ostlie

Phil Ostlie passed into eternal life with his Creator, Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the age of 55.

He was born in Moorhead, MN, July 8, 1963, to Joan and John Ostlie. His life was full of athletic accomplishments; first as a Moorhead Spud and then as an NDSU Bison. But his greatest accomplishment in life was being a gold medal husband and father.

Phil met Brenda Buzick in high school and they committed to spend their lives together on Valentine's Day, 1987. He chose every day to unconditionally love, patiently listen, and faithfully stand by her side. They filled their home with two crazy blonde girls, and together they poured their hearts and lives into building a Christ-centered family.

From the time he was able to walk, Phil spent nearly every waking minute on a football field, ice rink, track or golf course. After high school, he focused on football at NDSU where he participated in three national championships. No matter the sport, the position he played was dependable teammate and trusted friend. He also loved to golf and was looking forward to continue water skiing until his 80th birthday.

Phil was the president of the fan club for his two daughters in their various activities. He holds the title of favorite brother, uncle, good friend and follower of Jesus. If you knew Phil, you knew you were loved. His gift to us is an overabundance of memories to last a lifetime.

Phil will be missed by his wife, Brenda Ostlie; daughters, McCall (Tucker) Sears, and Olivia Ostlie; his father, John Ostlie; sisters, Rene (Martin) Fisher, and Heidi (Mac) Bain; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Ostlie.

He will be remembered at the following events:
Tailgate Party (non-alcoholic) 4:30 - 6 PM, Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead, parking lot.
Memorial Service and Sharing of Memories: 6 PM, Sunday, in Triumph Church.
Celebration of Life Service: 11 AM, Monday, Sept 3, 2018, in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church.
