Pastor Paul Guldseth

Pastor Paul Olaf Guldseth, 91, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 21, 2019, at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN.

Paul was born on August 14, 1927, in Belmond, Iowa, to Pastor Bernard and Lillie (Christianson) Guldseth. Paul graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, in 1948. While a student there, he met Beverly Louise Duckstad. They were married on June 19, 1949, and raised six children. Family time was full of laughter, music, watching sports, prayer and making lots of memories. Paul and Beverly's love for Jesus was always the cornerstone of their home.

Paul was a teacher of English and music for five years and especially enjoyed leading his marching band. He then attended seminary at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, and became ordained in 1957. He served churches in McGrath, MN, Oslo, MN, Plano, IL, Wolverton, MN, Edinburg, ND, Arthur, ND, and Moorhead.

In March of 2000, Paul married Ruth Fransen and they made their home in Moorhead. They enjoyed traveling, family events and filling a pulpit when needed.

Pastor Paul's passion in life was to share his love for Jesus. He loved preaching the Gospel, singing many hymns and he sure loved to visit! He was very musical, both vocally and instrumentally. He delighted in all the family togetherness, whenever possible.

Paul is survived by his wife, Ruth of Dove Healthcare in Chippewa Falls, WI; his six children, Mark (Barb) Guldseth of Becker, MN, Joy (Jerry) Synstelien of Fergus Falls, MN, Naomi (Alan) Latozke of Cavalier, ND, Lisa (Brian) Quernemoen of Fergus Falls, Richard (Karla) Guldseth of Wadena, MN, and Scott (Jen) Guldseth of Brooklyn Park, MN; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Steinbrecker and Rhoda (Dick) Schaeffer; brother, Jim (Marilyn) Guldseth; sister-in-law, Bev Duckstad; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beverly; sisters, Dorothy Anenson, Eunice Johnson, and Ruth Kallevig; brothers-in-law, LeRoy Anenson, Al Johnson, Emil Kallevig, Will Anenson, Wayne Steinbrecker and David Duckstad.

A Visitation for Pastor Paul will be Wednesday, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM Service of Remembrance in Kormso Funeral Chapel. Moorhead.

His Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 11 AM in The Lutheran Church of Christ The King, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.
