Pamela Jo Erickson

January 25, 1959 — November 4, 2019

Pamela Jo Erickson, 60, Fargo, ND, died unexpectedly on November 4, 2019, at her residence.

Pam's beautiful life began on January 25, 1959 in Fergus Falls, MN. She was born to, and survived by parents, Virgil and Luella (Pfeifer) Schlueter. She was the youngest, and self-proclaimed "best", of four children, Jeff (Mary Beth) Schlueter, Orenda (Rod) Kavanaugh, and Brian (Susan) Schlueter.

She met her soulmate, Jonathan Erickson, at Fergus Falls High School and began to live the enormous life God had planned. They married on September 3, 1977, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They moved to Fargo/Moorhead with their first child, Sarah (Adam) Link and added three more blessings, Brady (Apryl) Erickson, Drew (Ashley) Erickson, and Hannah Erickson. Pam was grateful that she could stay at home for most of her kids' lives. She was there for every scrape and bruise, play date, first day of school, band recital, basketball game and broken heart. She loved her family - nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, everyone.

Pam and Jon led youth groups at Olivet and Bethel churches, impacting countless young people's lives and building relationships that have lasted a lifetime. They frequently and joyfully opened their home to those in need - youth in transition, international students, orphans, and those without family. Her love knew no bounds; everything from runt squirrels to abandoned dogs found a home at Pam and Jon's.

In 1992, Pam started to work at the YMCA, running drop-in childcare. Here she was intentional in her outreach to single moms, impacting their lives by hiring and mentoring them. She continued her impact in other roles, including grant writing and assisting lower income families. It was after these experiences that Pam and Jon's hearts were softened to foster care.

Over the course of ten years, 13 foster children were loved through the Erickson home. Six years after she came into their home, Pam and Jon adopted 12-year-old Elthyah, who became their 5th child.

For the last several years, Pam has continued to serve the community, working at Fargo Housing to help low income tenants from all walks of life. Days before passing and ever the humble servant, she remarked that she was blessed by her work and the people she served.

Pam became a Grandma in 2011 and continued to welcome 11 grandchildren into the world. Beckett, McClane, Sutton, Piajoy, Sophi, Jude, Nora, Henley, Harlow, Benji, and Summit. She spent the last eight and one half years being Grammy Pammy to these beautiful kids. To them, she is known for her cookies, creativity, love of messy projects, never-ending love and being the best Grammy in the world.

Her time in her Earthly body may be over, but her mission continues in all of us. Her legacy of loving and helping people find their purpose, leaves no doubt she was greeted by Jesus saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 at 4PM in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to services.
