Myrtle Snustad

Myrtle Iola Snustad, 96, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Grand Forks, ND, at Valley Eldercare Center, where she had lived for the last year.

Myrtle was born December 23, 1921, on a farm near Glenburn, ND, to Morris and Ida (Haugen) Christianson. She was raised in the Glenburn area and attended Glenburn Public schools. She attended North Dakota School of Science and graduated with a Business Education degree.

Myrtle married Nels Snustad in Minot, ND, on June 2, 1946. They lived in Minneapolis and Halstad, MN, and Watertown, SD, before coming to Moorhead in 1965. They were married for 60 happy years before Nels passed away in 2007.

Myrtle was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King where she served on the library committee, the quilters guild and in women's circles. She liked to spend time with her family, going for walks, and playing croquet, Rook and dominoes.

Myrtle was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends. She was a great baker and cook, and provided warm hospitality to all those who visited.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nels. She is survived by her three sons, Jerry (Mary Jo) of Grand Rapids, MN, David (Jana) of Helena, MT, and John (Deb) of Grand Forks; one daughter, Diane (Paul Humphreys) of Charlottesville, VA; ten grandchildren, Ann (Josh) Lysne, Andrew (Lindsay) Snustad, Kindra Clark-Snustad, Oakley (Molly) Snustad, Hilde (Xavier Reyes Ochoa) Clark-Snustad, Brita Clark-Snustad, Emily Humphreys, Alexandra Humphreys, Luke Snustad and Mariah Snustad; and six great-grandchildren: Mara and Abigail Lysne, Taitum, Averi and Jacob Snustad and Grayson Snustad.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful caregivers of Valley Eldercare for their compassionate and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Lutheran Church of Christ the King Library Fund, or the Valley Memorial Foundation - Angel Fund.

Visitation: Monday, May 28, 2018, from 5 PM to 6:30 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Celebration of life: Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at 11 AM, in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.
