Marjorie M. Brandt, 89, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Sabin, MN, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead.
Marjorie Mae Christensen was born May 6, 1928, the daughter of Guy and Cora (Bergerud) Christensen, in Otter Tail County, MN. Her family moved to Moorhead where she graduated from Moorhead High School in 1946. After graduation she worked at the Woolworth Store in Moorhead.
On June 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Loren D. Brandt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They lived in Moorhead until later moving to Fergus Falls, MN. In 1967, they moved south of Sabin, where they farmed for many years. After Loren's death on September 18, 1998, she lived on the farm for another year before moving back to Moorhead and purchasing her own home.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin and Moorhead.
Marge was a cancer survivor of 44 years; her strong faith, supportive family and determination helped her through all of life's challenges. She loved her cats who were her closest companions and brought her much joy over the years. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, birdwatching and was extremely crafty. Marge had a lot of spirit and even enjoyed her first motorcycle ride, at the age of 83, with her grandson. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she cherished all the moments they spent together.
She is survived by her children, David (Phyllis) Brandt, Pelican Rapids, MN, Debra Hayes, Pelican Rapids, Dennis Brandt, Erhard, MN, and Deana (Russell) Van Raden, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Christopher (Missy), Shane (Josette), Heather (Ben), Holly (Chad), James Dennis, Wendy, Amy (Toby) and Matthew; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Christensen, Blaine, MN, and Rosalie Christensen, Cedar, MN; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren; twin brother, David; brothers, Kenneth and Gordon; sister, Virginia; and daughter-in-law, Gayle Brandt.
A Gathering of Friends for Marjorie will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her Memorial Service will be Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:00 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
