Kathleen Ann Wiggins was born April 18, 1933, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Felix and Ann Marie (Mattecheck) Wiggins. Kathy was raised in Detroit Lakes where she graduated from high school.
Kathy worked in Detroit Lakes and then married Leon D. Buretta on October 23, 1954, in Detroit Lakes, where they continued to make their home. They moved to Fargo, ND, and then to Moorhead, MN, in 1957.
Kathy worked at Kmart in Fargo, on South University Drive, from 1979 to 1996. Leon died on June 6, 1985. Kathy enjoyed her time at K-Mart but kept busy after she retired. She volunteered at Dorothy Day Food Pantry and Eventide in Moorhead. She was very active in St. Joseph Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Kathy was an avid quilter, having made many quilts for her family over the years.
Kathy died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Bethany on University, Fargo, at eighty-seven years of age.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Brad) Olson, Theresa Buretta, Ramona (Barry) Burchill, Beth Buretta, Lynn (Nick) Mueller, Nancy (Michael) Sears, David (Crystal) Buretta, and Mary (Darren) Honrud; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Shirley (Herb) Olson, and Margaret (Robert) Schrandt.
Visitation for Kathy will begin at 10 AM, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, Thursday, January 7, 2021, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Current CDC guidelines will be in effect regarding masks and distancing.
