James "Jim" Goodijohn, 65, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in his home in Fargo.
James Franklin Goodijohn was born May 9, 1948, the son of Edward and Muriel (Shippey) Goodijohn, in Breckenridge, MN. He was raised there and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1969 to 1970, when he was honorably discharged and returned home to Breckenridge. Jim worked for Peter J. Schweitzer from 1966 until 1976.
On July 9, 1977, Jim was united in marriage to Lorraine Larson at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Moorhead, where he worked for Kost Brothers (now Aggregate Industries) from 1977 until his retirement in 2010. In 1974, Jim earned his pilot's license, logging over 1400 hours flying. He enjoyed his time in the sky, especially when he was flying with Lorraine. They also enjoyed traveling, taking seventeen sea cruises that took them to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Jim was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where he served as an usher, greeter and communion server. He was also a member of Helping Hands and Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lorraine; brother, Dwaine (Cindy) Goodijohn, Rothsay, MN; sister, Patricia (Harry) Maranowski, Moorhead; half-sisters, Arlene (Dennis) Kissell, Gresham, OR and Lois (Alton) Himmerick, Valley City, ND; sisters-in-law, Myrna Larson, Fargo and Judy Hanson, Moorhead.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; and half-brothers, Kenneth and Edward, Jr.; brother-in-law, Arden Larson; and sister-in-law, Leone Kosmatka.
Jim's family would like to thank the Veterans Administration and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care and services.
