Remembering the life of John Maynard Trelstad a memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, June 21st, 2004 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. Maynard succumbed to respiratory illness on June 16th, 2004, in the Palliative Care Unit at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, surrounded by his loving family.
Maynard was born in Rindahl, MN, to the Reverend and Mrs. P.M. Trelstad on May 13th, 1929. Maynard enjoyed more than fifty-two years of marriage to Avonne Lecy and raised six children.
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, he is so remembered for asking "How ARE you, are you coming over?" His favorite pastime was visiting with family and friends around the old oak table. Everyone he met gained a new friend, whether they knew it or not. Many left with one of his unique workshop creations.
Wrapped in love with a bow that sparkled like the twinkle in his eye, Maynard's favorite gift to all was his special gift of laughter. His greatest wish has always been to be known and remembered for loving his family and for leaving people happier than he found them, including the many friends and neighbors who received his friendly wave from his living room window.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Avonne and their six children - John of Fargo, Mark of Minneapolis, MN, Lynn (Michelle) of Moorhead, Pete (Cindy) of West Fargo, ND, Jeanne (Loren) Toso of Pelican Rapids, MN, and Jill (Randy) Weiss of Fargo.
Grandchildren are Maddy (Randy) Lukes, Damon and Shelley Larson, Michael and Matthew Trelstad, Jesse and Joey Trelstad, Whitney Lien, David (Sabrina) and Annamaree Toso, Wendy Weiss, Jeramiah (Amy), Krissy Weiss, and one great grandchild, Paige Weiss.
