June 12, 1933 — June 4, 2004

Grace Shambach Lilke, 70, Fargo, ND, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Bethany Homes, where she resided for nine years.

Grace was born June 12, 1933, in Brinsmade, ND. She attended school there and later did housework for families in the area. She moved to Fargo and lived and worked at Golden Acres Haven. When that facility closed, she moved to Valley City, ND, and was employed at Foss Drug Store.

Grace married Howard Lilke and they lived in Valley City until his death in 1987. Shortly there after, Grace returned to Fargo to be closer to her family and she lived at the downtown High Rise until health conditions brought her to Bethany.

She is survived by sisters, Norma Rose, Rolette, ND, Mary Alice (Bob) Dryden, San Diego, CA, Esther (Vernon) Gerig, Brinsmade; a brother, Gordon Shambach, Minot, ND; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

During her stay at Bethany she was very mobile with her wheelchair. She was well acquainted with the residents, visitors and staff and had a ready smile for everyone. She was one of the stars in television ads informing the public that "Bethany is a great place to live and work." She will be missed by her family, her many friends and caregivers.
