George P. Nornes

September 16, 1925 — July 28, 2003

George Pernel Nornes of Climax, MN, was a man of faith who loved God first and family second. His time on this earth was filled with living a life that pleased God - whether he was teaching agriculture in the Climax High School, distributing Bibles with the Gideons, sharing his love for agricultural activities at the Minnesota State Fair and the Crookston Winter Show, farming, camping with his family, getting donuts with his granddaughters, or building a tree-house with his grandsons.
George gave himself in service to his church, his country and his community. Because of that he was honored in many ways. George made everyone who knew him feel special. He loved people and knew that by serving and loving others he was sharing the love of God.
George was born on Sept. 16, 1925, in Winger, MN, to Bernt and Martha Nornes. He died of a stroke on July 28, 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce (Tharaldson) Nornes of Climax, and three daughters, Gaye (Steve) Lindfors, Vadnais Heights, MN, Julie (Greg) Benedict, Chaska, MN, and Lori (Michael) Charron, Woodbury, MN. His five grandchildren were the joys of his life, David, Danny and Scott Benedict, and Kelsy and Julia Charron. He is also survived by his sister, Idelle (Roger) Bagne and his brothers, Berdeen (Jill) Nornes and Harold (Marji) Nornes.
George was preceded in death by three children, David, Danny, and Lynette; and his brother, Maurice Nornes.
George's legacy of faith, family, and community service will continue forever.
