Esther Nyquist

Esther Olive Nyquist was born June 2, 1920, to Andrew and Anna (Lindgren) Nyquist, in the house her father built near Wolverton, MN. She was the youngest of seven children - four boys and three girls.

She started school in a rural one-room school house and graduated from Wolverton High School. She moved to Minneapolis, MN, in 1941 and graduated from a business college. She took an office job for a local magazine, "Woman's Home Companion," as a bookkeeper and also worked as a nanny in Minneapolis.

She returned to the farm in 1948 to care for her aging parents. She continued to live in the family home until 2015, when she moved to rural Abercrombie, ND, where she lived for over 2 ½ years with her great-nephew and family, Ryan and Laura Hermunslie and girls. In July of 2018, she moved to CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN, and lived there until she went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at ninety-nine years of age.

Esther loved people and enjoyed visiting and entertaining over coffee. She was an avid Scrabble player and loved watching Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed pets of all kinds and had a special love for cats.

Esther was a life-long member of Wolverton Evangelical Free Church, now known as Eagle Valley Evangelical Free Church, Christine, ND. She participated in a community ladies' Bible study for close to fifty years. She was a well-loved Sunday school teacher of two and three year olds and taught for several decades. She always loved the children and was concerned for their spiritual well-being.

Esther is survived by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and four brothers.

Visitation for Esther will be Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.

Her funeral will be Friday, June 28, 2019, at 2 PM, in Eagle Valley Evangelical Free Church, Christine.

Burial will follow in Eagle Cemetery.
