Effie Mae Weik

Remembering the life of Effie Mae Weik, 91, Fargo, ND, who died Friday, June 23, 2017, in Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.

Effie was born May 25, 1926, in Ottertail, MN, to Otto W. and Irene (Wells) Lange. She attended school in Bertha, MN, Mizpah, MN, and Pelican Rapids, MN. Effie was employed at the creamery in Pelican Rapids for a number of years.

Effie married George Weik on September 6, 1952, in Pelican Rapids, and the couple moved to Seattle, WA. They later moved to a farm near Rothsay, MN. In 1955, they moved to Wolverton, MN. George died on February 1, 1990.

Effie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton. She worked for the Breckenridge, MN, school system from 1973 until 1990, when she retired at the age of sixty-four.

Effie is survived by her sons, Michael (Suzanne) Weik, Mentor, MN, and Timothy Weik, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Roxanne (Dennis) Loock, Hawley, MN; daughter-in-law, LuAnn Weik, Moorhead; six grandchildren, DeAnn Miller, Brandon (Stephanie) and Benjamin Loock, Sarah Weik, and Aaron and Anne Weik; five great-grandchildren, Avery, Wyatt, Colton, Sadie, and Jameson; sister, Viva Post, Deerwood, MN; and many other nieces, nephews and relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, Effie was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; and sisters, Alice Lange, and Agnes Holman.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Effie's family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Sanford Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion shown to Effie and her family.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Friday, June 30, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in Faith Lutheran Church, Wolverton.

Burial will be in Hamar Lutheran Cemetery, Rothsay.
