Dorothy Siverson

December 30, 1905 — July 9, 2004

Dorothy Sara Sabina Gebhard was born December 30, 1905, at Embden, ND, to Paul and Wilhelmina (Hinrichs) Gebhard. At age 14, she worked as a hired girl for a family in Steele, ND. She later worked as a housekeeper at the women's dormitory at Valley City State Teachers College, Valley City, ND.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl "Charley" Bettermann in August of 1926. They farmed in Arthur, ND, and moved to Ayr Township in 1936. Charley died May 31, 1950. She moved to Fargo, ND, in 1952 and worked in women's ready to wear at deLendrecies Department Store.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Erwin Siverson April 1, 1956, in Fargo. They farmed in Perley, MN, before moving to Moorhead in 1971. Mr. Siverson died May 21, 1982.

Dorothy was a charter member and a past president of the Eventide Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Fargo American Legion Auxiliary and the World War One Auxiliary, having served as regional chaplain and other offices. She was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, serving over ten thousand hours and where she was named volunteer of the year. Dorothy passed away July 9, 2004, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, at the age of ninety-eight.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Herbert (Beatrice) Bettermann of Minot, ND; a daughter Beverly (James) Stone of Barney , ND; a stepson-in-law, Arnie (Joyce) Rudi of New Brighton, MN; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, eight great-stepgrandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers, five sisters and one stepdaughter LaVerne Rudi.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 13, 2004, 2 PM, Bottlofson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN
