DeLores C. Larson

DeLores Caroline Larson, 88, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at River Pointe of Moorhead.
She was born in Wilton, ND, on May 21, 1926, to Clifford and Mabel (Franklund) Hansen. As a young lady, her family moved to Oriska, ND. After graduation from Valley City (ND) High School in 1942, she moved to Fargo, ND, where she began working for the telephone company and met the love of her life at a dance. She married Otto G. Larson in Valley City on May 17, 1947. They made their home in Moorhead in a house that Otto built for their growing family.
DeLores worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone in a number of office and managerial capacities. She became treasurer of Northwestern Bell of North Dakota, and she retired in 1986. She invested herself in her community by being a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served in many capacities, a member of Altrusa and Northwestern Bell Pioneers, and as a board member of the Dakota Telco Credit Union.
DeLores was a generous, peaceful, friendly, and caring person. She spent her retirement years caring for her husband and her parents in their final years. She taught her three sons the importance of sharing the gifts God had given them. She shared her love of family fishing and hunting, dancing, reading, needlework, watching movies, their Lake Lida cabin, and music, with her whole extended family and many friends.
DeLores was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, who died in 1993; her parents; and three brothers, Raymond, Norman "Jack", and Harvey Hansen.
She is survived by three sons, Lon (Deanna) Larson, Omaha, NE, Gary (Bev) Larson, Cass Lake, MN, and David (Anne) Larson, Moorhead; two sisters, Darlyne "Toots" (Richard) Anderson, Vancouver, WA. and Janet "Gail" (Joseph) Miller, Spearfish, SD; eight grandchildren, Brent (Jennifer) Larson, Briehan (Eric) Barron, Janelle (Jonathan) Jaworski, Shawn (Jody) Larson, Scott (Rachel) Larson, Matthew (Jessica) Larson, Amanda Larson, Andrew (Tessa) Larson; and nine great-grandchildren, Amelia and Isaiah Larson, Emmett and Lily Jaworski, Garrett and Ella Larson, Wyatt and JayLee Larson, and Lula Mae Larson.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the staff and volunteers at Eventide, River Pointe and Hospice of the RRV, who so lovingly took care of DeLores while she was in their care.
Preferred memorials are Hospice of the Red River Valley, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
Visitation is Sunday, 5-7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Service is 11 AM Monday, February 2, 2015, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
