Nyla Mogard

Nyla Jean Mogard, 85, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, in McIntosh Senior Living, McIntosh, MN.

Nyla was born November 28, 1930, in Britton, SD, one of Clarence and Emma Smith's twelve children. She attended school and graduated at Kidder, SD.

While waitressing at the Pheasant Inn Café, Nyla met the love of her life, Clayton Mogard. They were united in marriage on April 25, 1953, in Webster, SD, and enjoyed 63 years together. She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes. Nyla enjoyed pretty flowers, shopping at deLendrecie's, morning devotions at the kitchen table, and the quiet simplicity of ironing a pile of shirts. A visit to her home often included the offer of a fresh-baked muffin. Their motorhome trips, especially to Texas, always put a spring in her step.

Clayton and Nyla had five children, Pam (Gord) Massie, Henderson, NV, Deb (Fred) Schmidt, Moorhead, Cher (Mike) Nelson, Hawley, MN, Jerome (Val) Mogard, Fargo, ND, and Jeff (Karen) Mogard, Paynesville, MN. The family grew to include seventeen grand-children, and seventeen great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by Nyla's love, devotion and faithful prayers. Her love for the Lord was passed down to her family and shared with many.

Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, from 12 noon to 1 PM, followed by her funeral service at 1 PM, in River Valley Church, Dilworth, MN. Burial will be at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
