Marjean Aabye

Marjean Jenevieve (Ziegler) Aabye was born October 13, 1932, to Theodore and Selma (Ohnstad) Ziegler in Fargo, ND. She was raised and helped out on her parents' farmstead near Perley, MN, and attended Hendrum (MN) High School where she graduated in 1950. Marjean then began work in the office of the American Crystal Sugar plant, and later drove school bus for Hendrum-Perley for many years.

On March 31, 1951, Marjean married George Aabye in Perley, where they farmed together until 1984. George died in September 1996, after 45 years of marriage, and Marjean continued living on the farm in Perley thereafter.

During her life Marjean was fond of the outdoors; enjoying spending time in her large garden, tending her flowers, spending time at the lake, and fishing. Marjean's interests also included bowling and dancing. She loved living on the farm, and true to her independent nature she continued living there until the end. Marjean lived an unselfish life, one devoted to her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them at family functions. Marjean also had a natural talent for cooking, using her memory as her cookbook and whipping up many classics that are sure to be missed by her family. Her faith was very important to her; being an active member of the church where she was part of Ladies Aid and attended Bible studies. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Marjean died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Sanford Health, Fargo, at eighty-five years of age.

Marjean is survived by three sons, Steven (June), Fargo, Scott (Becky), Moorhead, and Larry (Annette), Moorhead; two daughters, Kathy Larson, Fergus Falls, MN, and Kristy (Scott) Jetvig, Hawley, MN; seven grandchildren, Chase (Joy), Mathew (Elli), and Trevor (Rachael) Larson, Candace (Kevin) Perry, Emily, and Ashley Jetvig, and Rachel Aabye; two great-grandchildren, Donovan Perry, and another to be born in July (Chase and Joy); her brother, Allan (Darlene) Ziegler, Moorhead; and her sister, Shirley Volness, Fargo. Marjean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2018, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 11 AM, in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.

Burial will follow in Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, Perley.
