Lowell Holland

Lowell Holland, 88, of Dilworth, MN, died peacefully, Sunday, May 1, 2016, in his family home.

Lowell Holland was born December 22, 1927, the son of Ludvig and Norah (Enger) Holland, in Bracken, Saskatchewan, Canada. The family moved to the Halstad, MN area, where he attended rural country school and Halstad Public High School, graduating in 1946. After graduation he worked for Standard Oil Stations.

On May 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to E. Gwendolyn Kozojed at Halstad Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm near Halstad and Lowell began his career working with two of his brothers in the Holland Standard Oil Service Station. He later, with his brothers, owned and operated the Holland Our Own Hardware Store in Halstad. Lowell and Gwen moved into Halstad in 1979. In the fall of 1993, Lowell retired and they moved to Dilworth in 2003.

Over the years they spent a lot of time attending activities of their grandchildren. They also enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. Lowell and Gwen were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on the fifth of May.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen; daughter, Janice (Bill) Dudgeon, Petersburg, ND; son, Richard (Sheila) Holland, Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Mark (Amanda Jean) Dudgeon, Grand Forks, ND, Gregg (Rana) Holland, Rapid City, SD, Amanda Holland, Bismarck, ND, Abby and Allie Holland, Rapid City, SD; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ethan, and Logan Holland, Cameron, Karlee and Evan Dudgeon; four stepgranddaughters, nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren; brothers, Neal Holland, Harwood, ND, Earl (Kathy) Holland, Halstad, MN, and Vernon (Vicki Miller) Holland, Sarasota, FL; sisters-in-law, Betty Dunford and Carol (Lowell) Holm, both of Fargo, ND, and Rose (Bob) Knudtson, Moorhead, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ames; sisters-in-law: Jeanette Holland, Sue Holland and Doris Pitman; brothers-in-law, Willis Pitman and Tom Dunford; and nephews, Timothy Holland and Douglas Dunford.

A visitation for Lowell will be Friday from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His funeral will be Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 10:30 AM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth.

Burial will be in North Halstad Lutheran Cemetery, Halstad.
