Louise Francis Kennedy was born August 5, 1942, in Fargo, ND, to Fred and Evelyn (Wahlen) Kennedy. The family moved to Moorhead, MN, when Louise was a young girl and she graduated from Moorhead High School in 1960.
She worked at St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead, for three years, and married Lloyd Emerson on September 14, 1963, in Moorhead. Louise stayed at home to raise her family of seven children. As the kids started leaving the nest, she went to work for St. Francis de Sales School, Shanley High School, the Easten Hallmark gift shop, and CCRI, Moorhead.
Louise was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead. She cooked for many funerals and was active in Christian Mothers. She was an avid bowler, cake decorator, and would sit for hours crocheting afghans. She enjoyed making afghans and cakes for all friends and family. Louise treasured her family and especially caring for her grand and great-grandchildren. Nothing delighted her more than having family gatherings.
Under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and her family, Louise died Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Moorhead, at seventy-four years of age.
Louise is survived by her husband, Lloyd, Moorhead; children, Lauri (Darren) Brooke, Detroit Lakes, MN, Craig (Michele) Emerson, Chaska, MN, Tracey (Russ) Emerson-Curtis, Fargo, Brenda Emerson, Maple Grove, MN, Cory Emerson, Moorhead, Sally (Kyle) Johnson, Glyndon, MN, and Sara Evert, Moorhead; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Ken) Highness, Dilworth, MN; and brothers, Fred Kennedy, and Marvin (Rose) Kennedy, both Moorhead, and Mike (Kathy) Kennedy, Hettinger, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Sean Brooke; and a sister, Judy Ball.
Visitation for Louise will be Thursday, September 22, 2016, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.
The funeral mass will be Friday, September 23, 2016, at 2 PM, in the church.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
