June Gustavson

June M. Gustavson, 97, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016, after a long and full life, at her home,surrounded by her loving family.

June was born in Kandiyohi County as the first child to Junior and Lillian (Nelson) Johnson. As the older sister to three brothers, she grew up on the family farm. She went to business school and went on to teach in the rural schools. She met her husband, Leo Gustavson, and was married to him in 1941 in Newport News, Virginia. While Leo was stationed in Italy, June returned to Willmar as a war bride continuing to teach. They welcomed a baby in 1947, Suzanne, and another in 1952, Jeffery. They moved to Moorhead in 1957 living in the same home on 11th Street South until 2014. June was an active member of Grace Methodist Church. She was a member of circle, quilting and volunteered many hours. She was employed at the Coca Cola plant as a bookkeeper. She recently shared with her great-grandchildren that she like to grab a bottle of Coke from the production plant, but still preferred Pepsi.

June loved to travel. She visited family often including two trips to Japan. She enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her husband, Leo (1988), and brothers, Warren, Tom, and Bruce. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Richard) Anderson; son, Jeff (Mary) Gustavson; grandchildren, Carla (Keith) Skogland, Kathy (Ned) Emerick, Gayle (Chris) Peters, Mike Gustavson, Cindy (Chris) Ellis, and Matt (Allison) Gustavson; as well as eight great-grandchildren.

The Memorial service is February 20, 2016, at 2:00 PM with a Visitation one hour prior, at Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
