Geneva Marie (Kimmes) Schwab, 79, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully September 14, 2016, surrounded by her family, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Geneva was born July 7, 1937, in Devils Lake, ND and was the oldest daughter of Ted and Geneva Kimmes. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy and earned her Registered Nursing degree at Mercy School of Nursing in 1958. She married Adrian Schwab on October 13, 1958 at St. Joseph's Church in Devils Lake and they had five children.
Geneva worked full and part-time as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake until 1963. Geneva and Adrian moved to Moorhead in 1965 where they still reside. She worked in ICU at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead from 1967 until 1973. She continued sharing her love for nursing at Park Christian and St. Joseph's School for 20 years.
Geneva was a devoted wife of 57 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be remembered as an incredibly kind, caring and loving woman. Geneva gave much of her time volunteering at her church, schools, the American Cancer Society and other local groups. Over the years, she loved watching her kids and grandkids at many sporting events and activities and rarely missed watching a Twins game. She also enjoyed sewing, needlework, baking, cooking and traveling.
Geneva is survived by her husband, Adrian; her five children, Kevin Schwab, Fargo, Dave (Stacy) Schwab, Fargo, Brad (Patty) Schwab, Moorhead, Doug (Jen) Schwab, Blaine, MN, and Kathy (Kevin) Matsui, Lakeville, MN; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers, Ted Kimmes, Denver, CO, Bob (Beth) Kimmes, Hibbing, MN; sister, Rita (Gary) Neill, Hutchinson, KS; and a large extended loving family. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation for Geneva will be Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11 AM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
