F. Carmen Ford

Faye "Carmen" Ford was born March 9, 1933, in Halstad, MN, to Lloyd and Esther (Nygaard) Waite. She graduated from Halstad High School in 1951, and married Leslie Beck Ford in Halstad, on June 21, 1952. They raised their daughter, Roxanne, and son, Scott.

Carmen and Les lived in rural Grandin, ND, where they farmed, until 1965, when they moved to Hendrum, MN. Carmen worked at the Halstad Red River Valley Co-op Power, as well as Northwestern Bell Company in Fargo, ND. In her later years, she and Les enjoyed traveling to AZ in the winters, and to Pelican Lake in the summers.

After Les passed away in 2002, Carmen moved to Fargo, with her little dog "Beck." She always referred to Beck as her last kid left at home. In January 2014, Eventide The Fairmont, in Moorhead, MN, became her assisted living home.

Carmen loved to read, walk, swim, fish, knit, crochet, sew, and attend theater and music events. She was known to say, "I especially like dogs, cats, and kids." Carmen enjoyed her two grandchildren very much, and attended their activities. They especially enjoyed her "Granny meat" (ham), and her peanut butter pie. She also said often "I believe in the power of prayer," and enjoyed attending services at Immanuel Lutheran in Hendrum, Zion Lutheran on Floyd Lake, Trinity Lutheran in Moorhead, and The Fairmont.

Carmen passed away peacefully at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, on February 20, 2015, at eighty-one years of age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; her parents; two brothers, Clyde and Ray; and sister, Nancy.

She is survived by her two children, Roxanne (Roger) Hagen, East Grand Forks, MN, and Scott Ford, Fargo; grandchildren, Nicholas (Molly) Hagen, East Grand Forks, and Anna Hagen, Moorhead; sister, Marjorie (Marvin) Geiselhart; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Beck.

Visitation will begin at 5 PM, with a Life Celebration service at 7 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2015, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
