Edyth Mattis Bohjanen

Edyth Eldora Kennedy was born January 12, 1930, in New Rockford, ND, the oldest of four children, to Lester C. and Dorothea (Dunn) Kennedy. Edyth was raised in New Rockford where she attended school.

Edyth moved to Fargo, ND, when she was eighteen years of age and married Emil Mattis on March 31, 1950, in New Rockford. They made their home in Moorhead, MN. Emil died September 15, 1980.

Edyth married William Bohjanen on June 14, 1986, in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead, and they made their home in Lino Lakes, MN. William died in October of 1995, and she continued to reside in Lino Lakes until returning to Moorhead in May of 2010. She made her home in Riverpointe in Moorhead.

Edyth died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, at eighty-five years of age.

In addition to being a member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Edyth was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing a good game of cards as well as sewing and crocheting. Edyth was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins.

Edyth is survived by her three children, Charlotte (Larry) Roe, Burnsville, MN, David (Nellie) Mattis, Savage, MN, and Elizabeth "Betty" Mattis, Fargo; five grandchildren, Erik and Ryan Jensen, Michelle Buchanen, Rachel Roe and Douglas Mattis; five great-grandchildren, Brittney and Paige Buchanen, and Sadie, Augustus and Cyrus Jensen; and one sister, Marlys (Oren) Holmes, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and two brothers, Lester Kennedy Jr., and John D. Kennedy.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by a funeral at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2015, in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
