Earl "Bud" Hallstrom

Earl "Bud" Nansen Hallstrom was born June 29, 1924, in Polk County Hospital, Thief River Falls, MN, to Henry "Hank" and Leticia "Lettie" Hallstrom. Bud was raised in the Thief River Falls area where he attended Black River School. He furthered his education at the Agricultural College in Crookston, MN.
On May 1, 1947, Bud married Lorraine Hebert, in Moorhead, MN. Bud worked as a truck driver for Red Owl stores for 42 and a half years. While working for Red Owl, Bud served on the executive board for the Teamsters for twelve years and job steward for twenty-two years. They purchased the Birchwood Golf Course in Pelican Rapids, MN, in 1967 and owned that for the next eight years. Bud and Lorraine were later divorced.
Bud met Lillian "Betty" Cypret and together they built a life and owned a home on Little Toad Lake. He moved to Rochert, MN, in 2003, when he bought the Hebert family lake place on Cotton Lake. For thirty years, Bud made his winter home in Donna, TX, and his summer home on Cotton Lake, with Betty, where they created many wonderful memories for us all.
Bud passed Friday, March 13, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, McAllen, TX, at ninety years of age.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Stan) Ouren, Fargo, ND; son, Todd (Ana) Hallstrom, Glyndon, MN; four grandchildren, Robin (Carla) Ouren, Linn Ouren, Jeremy (Tosha) Ouren, and Jayme (Vesna) Havlicek; eight great-grandchildren, Calob Sears, Mason Ouren, Kassidy Sears, Dylan Ouren, Joshua Havlicek, Rylan Ouren, Addison Havlicek, and Kalyn Ouren; sister, Maxine Bratvold, Seattle, WA; nieces, Laura, Julie, Marcie, and Annie; nephew, Karl; and dear companion of over twenty-two years, Lillian "Betty" Cypret.
Visitation for Bud will be Friday, March 20, 2015, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His Celebration Service will be Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 10:30 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will take place Monday, March 23, 2015, at 11 AM, in Black River Lutheran Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls.
