Donna Lou Olson

Donna Lou Olson, 86, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Park River, ND, died Sunday, February 18, 2018, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Donna Lou Akre was born June 9, 1931, the daughter of Isaac and Lilly (Nelson) Akre, in Park River. She grew up in the Park River area and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in 1949. Donna then attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND, graduating in 1952.

In 1953, Donna was united in marriage to Dennis Olson in Park River. They made their home in Park River where Donna worked as a registered nurse at the St. Ansgar's Hospital and Clinic. Dennis died in January of 1961. After raising her children, Donna moved to Fargo, where she worked at Dakota Hospital for a number of years. She later returned to Park River, working at the Good Samaritan Center until her retirement. During her nursing career she was well respected by patients and staff alike.

Donna was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Park River. Donna lived life with a strong faith, a love of animals and a very great sense of humor. These things carried her through difficult times in her life and added joy to happier times.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Adair, Clarksville, TN, Deanne Fogel, Moorhead, MN, and Tami (Drew) Martinson, Los Alamos, NM; grandsons, Aaron (Kelsey Lowe) Fogel, Ryan (Lena) Fogel, Adam (Teri) Fogel, Shaun Adair and Scott Adair; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Payton, Willow and Winter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; son, Larry; sisters, Ilah Spoonland; twin sister, Doris Fenton; and son-in-law, Spencer Adair.

Donna's family would like to thank the staff at Maple View for her extremely loving care for the past three years. They would also like to thank the staff at Eventide on Eighth for the gentle comfort and care they provided during Mom's final hours.

A Visitation for Donna Lou will be Friday, February 23, 2018, from 12 PM (Noon) until 1 PM, followed by her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Park River, ND. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River.
