Darrell R. Johanson, 80, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
Darrell Robert Johanson was born January 23, 1936, the son of T.R. "Bob" and Mildred (Tapley) Johanson in Aberdeen, SD, where he was raised. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1954, and then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, before entering the U.S. Army in 1957. He served as a Paratrooper in Fort Bragg, NC until his discharge in 1959.
On February 23, 1967, he was united in marriage to Diane Carrington Felts in Sioux Falls, SD. Shortly after their marriage they established their home in Moorhead. Over the years, Darrell worked as a salesman for Gillette and then Best Foods until his retirement in 1998.
Darrell was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and their Helping Hands. He loved spending time at the lake and enjoyed coffee with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane; sister, Karen (James) Schramm, Winner, SD; five nephews; three nieces; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sharon Kvistad.
His Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 10 AM, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
Burial will be in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Columbarium.
