Cynthia "Cindi" Kopperud

Cynthia "Cindi" Renee Johnson was born March 28, 1954, in Fargo, ND, to Arthur Theodore Johnson Jr. and Irene (Rost) Johnson. Cindi was raised in Fargo where she graduated from Fargo North. She went on to attend North Dakota State University, where she studied Physical Education.

On February 29, 2008, Cindi married Bernie Kopperud, and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. From this union, she became a mother to Bill and Joe Kopperud, Bernie's two sons from an earlier marriage.

Cindi was married to Steve Hage of Detroit Lakes, MN, and formerly to Anthony Hins of Fargo. With Anthony, she had two sons, Bryan and Bryce Hins.
During her life, Cindi made her home in Fargo, West Fargo, Detroit Lakes, and Moorhead. She worked as a teller in Fargo and West Fargo. She later worked as a cashier and stocker at Wal-Mart.

Early in her adult life Cindi suffered a traumatic brain injury in a tragic car accident. She was in a coma for an extended period of time and was not expected to live. Cindi fought back because she had two boys under three years old to raise. Cindi had cognitive impairment from the accident, but this never stopped her from retaining her independence, joy for life and love for her family.

Cindi's family recalls her indomitable spirit as a youth. Her smile sparkled and her laughter filled a room. She was incredibly agile and athletic. Cindi enjoyed gymnastics, her pets, time with family and friends, and warm summers at Senns Beach, on Pelican Lake, Minnesota.

Cindi died Friday, March 6, 2015, in her home, at sixty years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Bernie; children, Bryan (Bridget), and Bryce Hins, and Bill and Joe (Linda) Kopperud; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Carter Hins, and Kylie and Hunter Kopperud; siblings, Ted (Claudia) Johnson, Sherry (Mark) Storsved, David (Karen) Johnson, Brooks (Susan) Johnson, Susan (Dan) Johnson-Drenth, Shawn (Maya) Johnson, and Shane (Jodi) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Mieko Johnson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 11 AM, in First Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
