Beverly Kirkhorn

Beverly Kirkhorn, 85, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Comstock, MN, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Beverly Ann Eva Gess was born January 16, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Lucie (Leach) Gess, in Nerstrand, MN. She was raised at Nerstrand and moved with her family at the age of 12 to Moorhead. Beverly worked at Moorhead Drug where she met her future husband, Merle Kirkhorn. They were united in marriage on November 12, 1952, in Moorhead.

They made their home in Comstock where Beverly worked at the Comstock Grocery Store and then at the Comstock Public School. She later worked at Silverline in Moorhead until going to work for Classic Roadster in Fargo until retiring. Merle died February 20, 2005. In 2006, Beverly moved to Fargo and in October of 2014 moved into the Golden Living Center in Moorhead.

Beverly was a member of Comstock Lutheran Church where she was active in their ladies aide and quilting group.

She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, dice and spending time at the lake. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Beverly was a genuine person and it was so easy to fall in love with her when meeting her for the first time.

Beverly is survived by her children, Wayne (Sonia Kaltvedt) Kirkhorn, Moorhead, Gayle (Steve) Knudson, San Jose, CA, Karen (Craig) Krabbenhoft and Janeen Langowski, both Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Adam Kirkhorn, Jacob Knudson, Alysse Knudson, Kayla Krabbenhoft, Megan Langowski, Laurin Langowski and Ashley Kaltvedt-Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; brothers, Neale, Marvin and David; sisters, Barbara Lammers and Marjorie Frisch; and infant brother, Duane.

A visitation for Beverly will be Monday from 5 PM until 7 PM, with a 7 PM Prayer Service, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral service will be Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 11 AM in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock.

Burial will take place in East Comstock Cemetery, Comstock.
