Message:
Bank, You were a hell of a man who lived a hell of a life. You will be sorely missed but NEVER forgotten. This guy can only hope that when his time comes, he has led half the life you led. I'll see you again someday, my good friend! Skoal! Plank

I was a Freshman the year Bill came to MSU--1958. I wrestled and lettered four years at MSU. Bill was a "great" coach and will be missed.

Betty and I want to express our condolences to the Garland Family. Bill will be missed but his contributions, style, and love for wrestling will continue through the wrestlers he coached. As one of thoughs wrestlers I will always remember that he helped us succeed not only in wrestling but also in life. He lives through us. THANK YOU BILL GARLAND. BANKS SWAN

Message:
My late husband Hank wrestled for Bill and coached for him in 1963-64 when they won the national championship. What a great year that was and an honor to be working with a great coach and a great man. Both Hank and I loved Bill Garland!

Message:
To the Children of Bill Garland, I met Bill's two sons while in College in the early 80's. Bill was my coach during a period when MSU was struggling to field a strong team. I stayed on for all four yeaers and even helped in the coaching ranks for a season. I have been coaching High School wrestling for 22 years now and I often reflect back to the influence that Bill had on me as a coach. I spent a few evenings with him down at the Speak Easy and he would tell stories of his glory years. Good times. The expereince deepened my appreciation of the dedication the man had to our great sport. F-M area lost a legend in Bill Garland, "the Silver Fox"

I was an assistant coach with Bill for 2 years(1982-84) at Moorhead State University. One thing that Coach Garland taught me was how to lance/drain a cauliflower ear, actually he never taught me, i just watched him do it!
