Judith “Judy” L. Askegaard, 68, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, in Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, after an extended battle with cancer.
Judith Lee Stenerson was born September 20, 1940, to Morris and Anne (Lee) Stenerson in Fargo where she was raised and graduated from Fargo Central High School. After graduation, Judy worked for Warner and Company Insurance for a period of time.
On March 18, 1961, Judy married Robert Askegaard in Fargo and they made their home on the family farmstead in south Moorhead near Comstock, MN. Judy worked hand in hand farming with Robert and raising their three daughters.
Judy was an active WELCA participant and a regular at the quilter’s group at Comstock Lutheran Church. She was a Master Gardener and a garden club member. She was also an avid reader and belonged to a book club.
Judy is lovingly survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Robert, Moorhead; three daughters, Lori (Pat) Gamet, Paxton, NE, Bonnie (Mark) Baumgardner, Moorhead; and Linda Askegaard, Fargo; three grandchildren, Leanne Gamet, and Ross and John Baumgardner; a brother, Maurice (Jeanne) Stenerson, Stillwater, MN; a sister-in-law, Connie (James) Franks, Rockland, CA; and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 11 AM in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock.
Burial: Comstock East Cemetery.
